Representatives of the Chamber participated in the JARUS Plenary Session in Vienna – 18-22.11.2024

Sesja Plenarna JARUS w Wiedniu - Listopad 2024

The second JARUS Plenary Meeting took place in Vienna on 18-22 November 2024. It was organized by JARUS in cooperation with Austro Control. Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems representation had the opportunity to participate in this unique event thanks to the invitation of the Civil Aviation Authority.

JARUS plenary meetings are multi-day events during which discussions and workshops are held with the participation of all meeting participants. Key decisions are made here regarding future changes in aviation law for UAS operations.

Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems representatives were: Robert Fintak (President of the Management Board), Mariusz Naumienko (Member of the Management Board), Radosław Zych (Member of the Management Board) and Karol Cheda (representative of Akademia UAV – Member of the Chamber) assess the JARUS plenary session as a fruitful meeting and conducive to establishing new industry contacts from around the world.

The Chamber announced its presence at this important event. For the Chamber’s representatives, it was also an opportunity to learn first-hand on what principles (with common legal conditions in force in all EU countries) UAS operations are organized outside Poland – it turned out that flights based on office permits are the standard, with the entire process of obtaining permits being much more efficient and shorter than in Poland.

The conclusions are also that it is impossible to create the same drone regulations for all global markets: European, American, African or Asian, because the industry is at different stages of development and solutions that will work in Europe or the USA may not fit the African reality and vice versa. In addition, the regulations should be created by experts, but also industry practitioners – not only experts with extensive scientific achievements, because this can cause problems with the practical application of overly complicated legal regulations. Industry representatives should participate in such meetings to convey their point of view to those responsible for later legislation.

The JARUS Plenary Session in Vienna was also attended by representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority, Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, and other institutions from the Polish UAV industry.

Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems representatives also discussed the preliminary conditions for the Chamber’s participation in the JEDA (Joint European Drone Associations), which includes all the most important associations and chambers in the UAV industry from across Europe.
