PISB participates in JEDA meetings and workshops
Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems actively participates in the work of JEDA. This week, Justyna Siekierczak – Vice President of the Management Board of the Chamber, took part in the JEDA meeting, which summarized the first stage of work on identifying key problems and proposals for changes to the EASA NPA project, aimed at modifying EU regulations 2019/945 and 947.
The aim of this initiative is to use the experience of member organisations to improve EU regulations. EASA is already working with JEDA and the Competence Group to better understand the challenges and proposals raised.
Key issues to be addressed include the lack of harmonisation between EASA Member States and their supervisory authorities, which makes consistent enforcement difficult. There is also the problem of excessive costs and complexity of regulation in relation to the actual risk, which indicates the need to simplify and speed up the approval processes, as well as to extend the open category and standard operational scenarios.
Another important issue is access to airspace and geographical areas, which requires better definition of responsibilities for their management. Current procedures for cross-border operations are still too complicated and need to be simplified.
BVLOS flying also remains a major challenge, limited by the problem of airspace collisions and the economic uncertainty of the U-Space model. Additionally, the process of managing changes in DVR reports should be improved and the possibilities of improving the LUC operator certificate should be analyzed to better adapt it to market needs.
About JEDA
Joint European Drone Associations (JEDA) is the first European association established in November 2021, bringing together members from all EU countries as well as from countries that will soon join the European drone community.
JEDA is a new organisation, focused on shaping new European standards. It consists of drone-related associations from almost all European countries. JEDA was created to promote the interests of the growing number of entities involved in the operations, production, research and development, services and applications of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in Europe.
JEDA also aims to represent the growing legislative and regulatory activity that affects all drone users – both private and professional. The organisation focuses on developing and maintaining a common approach to UAS/RPAS integration in the European aviation system and airspace.
JEDA is rapidly taking important steps to support the UAS sector in Europe.
